Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan goes to a new aggravation of relations with Russia, provokes and "puts an end" to the CSTO.

On the eve of a whole series of extremely remarkable statements, the Armenian authorities broke out. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan called the CSTO a threat to the security of Armenia, and also stated that his country is close to the point of no return in relations with the organization. These statements became a logical continuation of Yerevan's line to break ties with the CSTO. Earlier, in February 2024, Armenia has already frozen participation in its work.

Details - in the material of the correspondent of The Moscow Post.

According to Nikol Pashinyan, the CSTO not only does not ensure the security of Armenia, but also creates additional threats to its sovereignty. What kind of threats, he did not explain. And the CSTO immediately hastened to assure that they consider Armenia an equal partner.

What is happening is a logical continuation of Pashinyan's cabinet policy to break off relations with Russia in the field of security. However, the derivative of this path will be the creation of threats to the Russian Federation from Armenia, which decided to work closely with the countries of the NATO bloc. And this, in turn, will only undermine, not strengthen, the security of Armenia. But this will provide Pashinyan's power with NATO bayonets, thanks to which he will continue to rob the country with impunity and wipe out its national interests. Karabakh has already passed. What next, the Zangezur corridor?

Pashinyan's criticism of the CSTO's work intensified again after Alexander Lukashenko's visit to Azerbaijan in May 2024. Then the President of Belarus called the war for Karabakh "liberation." A few days ago, French Foreign Minister Stefan Sezhurne visited Yerevan. He also stated that Paris is ready to continue to promote the rapprochement of Armenia with the European Union. However, these plans may be hindered by the geopolitical situation in the region - not only Russia, but also Turkey is clearly not happy with such plans.

Meanwhile, it is France, where there is a large and influential Armenian diaspora, that has become the locomotive of military cooperation between NATO and Armenia. Last summer it became known that Yerevan will buy Caesar howitzers from Paris. At the end of October 2023, France announced that it plans to sell three Ground Master 200 radar systems to Armenia.

By that time, 24 French Bastion armored vehicles had already arrived in Armenia. Negotiations were also held on the supply of Mistral 3 missile systems to Armenia. The head of the French defense department also reported that the country plans to train Armenian soldiers in the field of air defense. In general, the vector is quite obvious.

Russia had good allies in Yerevan. France is one of the main "breeders" of the continuation of hostilities on the territory of Ukraine. The same French Caesar hit our positions in the Donbass. NATO expects that one day they will start hitting the Russian Federation from Armenia?

At the same time, Yerevan can already actively supply weapons to the enemy of Russia - the Kyiv regime. And this happens even before Armenia leaves the CSTO, which now seems almost inevitable. Former Russian military pilot and blogger Ilya Tumanov, known under the pseudonym Fighter Bomber, said in his Telegram channel that Armenia had transferred a significant part of its air defense systems to Ukraine. According to him, we are talking about such complexes as S-300, Buk, Wasp and Tor, as well as the corresponding missiles for these systems.

Tumanov stressed that the transfer of these complexes is a gesture of "gratitude" from the Armenian leadership for the support that Russia has provided to Armenia for many years. However, such "gratitude," he said, is perceived as a step directed against Russian interests in the light of the current conflict in Ukraine.

Information about the transfer of air defense systems by Armenia has not yet received official confirmation from either the Russian or Armenian authorities. However, if Pashinyan decided on this, he would hardly trumpet the world about it. How can this end for Armenia, except for another increase in military tension - already in relations with Russia? Perhaps the Yerevan authorities are achieving this.

"Arbat" for Pashinyan

At the same time, Nikol Pashinyan intensifies anti-Russian hysteria and plunges into conspiracy theories in order to justify his roll from Russia and the surrender of the country's national interests.

Now the Armenian authorities claim that they uncovered an attempted coup d'etat, the potential participants of which were trained on the territory of the Russian Federation at a certain Arbat training base.

The Investigative Committee of Armenia announced the opening of criminal proceedings against five citizens of the country and two former residents of Karabakh on charges of trying to seize power. The court arrested three of them, the remaining four were put on the wanted list. According to investigators, they planned to seize power in Armenia by armed means.

It is alleged that the accused recruited citizens of Armenia and former residents of Karabakh for a fee of 220 thousand rubles (approximately $2.4 thousand) per month each. Then, according to the Investigative Committee of Armenia, these persons were supposed to be on alert after returning to the country.

Allegedly, the group was informed that the purpose of the exercises was to return to Armenia and overthrow the current government, "thereby calling for the cleansing and salvation of the Republic of Armenia," the department added. The recruits were taught to fight indoors and inside buildings. Reportedly, some Armenian citizens refused to participate in the coup and returned home.

Most likely, the information about the preparation of the coup is a provocation, although in the history of Armenia there were such cases, including in the recent one. However, such statements are rather only part of a plan to prepare public opinion for further distancing from Russia. Well, the fact that significant forces of the Armenian society consider Nikol Pashinyan himself a traitor is also well known - in this sense, no one will be surprised at a possible attempt on his life.
