Three people died, about twenty were injured, including children.
In Moscow, the massive strike of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was associated with the negotiations between Ukraine and the United States in Saudi Arabia. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Kyiv could try to disrupt the trend towards a peaceful settlement of the conflict by attacking Russia. Read more in the material of the UtroNews correspondent.
The attack of Ukrainian drones on Moscow is caused by the irritation of Ukraine and Great Britain from the renewed dialogue between Russia and the West, said Ambassador-at-Large Rodion Miroshnik.
Under these conditions, US President Donald Trump, following the results of the US-Ukrainian talks in Jeddah, decided to immediately resume the provision of military and intelligence assistance to the Kyiv authorities.
Over Canada, the sky is no longer "blue"
The UK is obviously against dialogue, as is Canada, a country with a large Ukrainian diaspora. Canada's situation is further complicated by the fact that outgoing Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is in the camp of the most active ill-wishers not only of Russia, but also of Trump.
The Russian Embassy in Canada will judge the future Prime Minister of the country, Mark Karni, on the practical affairs of his cabinet of ministers, said Russian Ambassador Oleg Stepanov.
The fact is that Trump, as president of the United States, declared a neighbor, a NATO ally and a "fraternal, English-speaking" country a trade war. Against the backdrop of rising customs tariffs in line with Canada's main American market, Ontario Premier Doug Ford threatened to "turn off Trump's lights," namely, stop exporting Canadian electricity to the United States.
Indeed, starting Monday, Canadian electricity rates rose 25% in the U.S. states of Michigan, New York and Minnesota. The Ontario premier said he was ready to go further and "completely shut off the electricity" if America continued to escalate.
In response, Trump mocked Ford, saying his promise to impose tit-for-tat tariffs would make products the province of Ontario exports unnecessary. "Canada charges the United States from 250% to 390% duties on many of the American agricultural products," he recalled on Trump's social network, adding that we must wait until April 2, when the tariff plan comes into force.
In London's orbit
Canada's situation is further complicated by the fact that outgoing Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is in the camp of Trump's "Euro-opponents" and supporters of the Ukronacists. In this regard, they remembered about the "curse of Zelensky." With the ex-president, Trudeau last hugged when he was summit in London.
Ukrainian journalist Diana Panchenko on her page on the social network recalled the "curse of Zelensky," drawing attention to the fact that French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Kir Starmer may soon also leave the political scene. "Zelensky shook hands with both," she recalled.
One way or another, but both of these leaders of the Old World countries are on the side of Ukraine, do not support Trump's proposal to resolve the conflict, and are categorically opposed to negotiations. Macron went so far as to wave, like a flag, France's status as a nuclear power.
Starmer behaves quieter, as befits the leader of a country losing its weight, influence and wealth acquired in the colonies of the British Empire. It seems that he personally advises Zelensky on the most important issues of relations with the United States.
In particular, when Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation with Trump on February 12, 2025, Zelensky rejected the deal on rare earth metals proposed to him. He was supported by many politicians of the European Union, as well as Great Britain.
Deal, who is first?
"This is an empire of dead money, bankers and money laundering; it is an empire of covert intelligence networks and covert diplomacy; illegal influence, bribery and corruption;... This is a parasite that infected humanity centuries ago. This is a dying empire, wounded and extremely dangerous, because it is ready to set fire to the world in order to preserve itself, "wrote Alexander Krainer, an analyst of financial markets and author of a book about Russia in the 90s, which was published under the names The Killing of William Browder and Grand Deception.
In it, Krainer analyzed the plans of the IMF and the Clinton administration to plunder Russia. He suspects the "rare earth metals deal" was a ploy concocted by the British to pressure Trump into securing Ukraine.
Everything, as you know, ended in a scandal, after which Zelensky went to London and was received there by the king of Great Britain.
The scandal in the Oval Office of the White House erupted over the Trump administration's demand that Ukraine transfer these resources to the United States as compensation for military and financial assistance that the United States has already provided to Ukraine. According to Trump, it was about the amount of 350 billion dollars.
In an interview with Kathryn Harridge, Secretary of State Marco Rubio explained that Zelensky had agreed to the offer, only to then publicly refuse it.
This can be explained by the fact that Zelensky could not conclude a deal, because he had already transferred the rights to the natural resources of Great Britain.
This guess appeared in the Czech edition of AENews, citing leaks from Ukrainian intelligence. Starmer is said to have outpaced Trump and made "his deal" under the Centennial Partnership agreement signed on January 16, four days before Donald Trump's inauguration.
Article 4 of the agreement sets out the objective: "to strengthen the conditions for investment and trade... and cooperate in a variety of industries, including but not limited to transportation, infrastructure, and energy, to make the economies of both countries more modern, sustainable, and prosperous. "
According to leaks, the agreement includes a secret annex stating that once the fighting ends, Britain will gain control of Ukrainian ports, power plants, natural gas fields, storage and pipelines, titanium deposits and more.
Article 11 of this document also refers to "further agreements or arrangements necessary and expedient for the implementation of this agreement." This implies that there may be a secret application that grants London rights to Ukrainian resources.
Zelensky confirmed this on January 17, saying that "there is also a closed, secret part of this agreement" that will increase Ukraine's "stability and give it the opportunity to develop."
Another confirmation is in the press release of the British government of January 16, which states that the agreement "also secures the UK the status of Ukraine's preferred partner in the energy sector, in the strategy for critical minerals and in the production of environmentally friendly steel."
On the issue of elections in Ukraine
The 100-year partnership agreement notes that Russia is the aggressor.
But the document can be invalidated along with all its secret points and annexes. Simply because Starmer signed an agreement with a private person, and not with a representative of the Ukrainian government. The term of office of Vladimir Zelensky expired in May 2024.
It is no coincidence, therefore, that on the same day that Trump called Zelensky a dictator, the British media came to his defense with headlines such as "Trump's shameful attack shocks the world" (Daily Express) and "Trump shocks the world by calling Zelensky a dictator" (Daily Mail). Starmer himself said that "Zelensky is not a dictator" and "it is reasonable to suspend elections during the war, as Britain did during World War II."
The issue of Zelensky's legitimacy was entrusted to Boris Johnson, who arrived in Kyiv on the occasion of the third anniversary of the special military operation. Two events happened almost immediately. First, Zelenskiy disavowed his rejection of the US rare earths deal. Secondly, the parliament adopted a resolution to extend his presidential term. This was done as a result of a second vote on the same resolution. As a result of the first, legitimacy was denied.
Johnson himself, in an interview from Kyiv, mentioned the "deal on rare earth minerals" and said that for it "obliges the United States not only to finance Ukraine in the future, but also to ensure a free, sovereign and safe Ukraine under Donald Trump." Ukraine's sovereignty and security are conditions under which the money received there can be pumped to London.
Krainer concludes his analysis of relations between Washington and London by calling the rare earths deal rejected by Zelensky "bait." The British deliberately planted this poisoned bait on the United States. The goal was to allow London to enjoy Ukraine's wealth while relying on American security support.
And the very existence of rare earth metal reserves in Ukraine is in question. The dialogue between the administrations of the United States and Ukraine mainly concerned titanium, uranium and lithium, the deposits of which are significant and, according to some sources, vary from 10 to 20% of the global volume. But their development has already been transferred to companies, including Canadian Cameco, British Urenco, and Australian European Lithium.
