The meeting in Ukraine in the Ramstein format was canceled after it became known that US President Joe Biden would not come to it because of Hurricane Milton. Without an American president, it makes no sense, including for Ukraine and its leader Volodymyr Zelensky. At the same time, it became known that the second so-called announced by the Ukrainian leader will not take place this year. "peace summit."
Zelensky's plans are crumbling, it is impossible to enlist more effective support, and in the West there are more and more voices according to which the conflict should be stopped along the line of contact - regardless of whether Kyiv likes it or not.

The most important thing is the weather in the house, Joe Biden decided on the eve of Hurricane Milton. And it can be understood: the presidential elections are already in November, and ignoring the problems of ordinary Americans for the sake of geopolitical games can cost the Democrats victory.
In the United States, the thesis is already accelerating that Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris supported the allocation of $750 to victims and those who lost their homes in recent natural disasters, while Ukraine receives billions and billions of direct financial assistance. The situation is becoming dangerous for Harris, who, as recent polls have shown, is slightly inferior in key states to Donald Trump.
"Zrada" on "zrada"
For Zelensky, the transfer of Ramstein was a complete failure, which was superimposed on a number of extremely unfortunate circumstances. Firstly, a big bet was made on Ramstein to present Kyiv's "victory plan" to Western leaders. It was planned to knock out additional funding and arms supplies for it.
Secondly, earlier the same "plan" failed in the States - it was very coldly received by local elites. Zelensky came and represented him on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. By the way, look how many representatives of member states listened to his speech. The half-empty hall again refers us to the ancient Latin proverb "sic transit gloria mundi" - this is how worldly glory passes. For the States, Zelensky looks like waste material, it causes more and more irritation.
In Washington, a number of experts, including representatives of the Democratic Party, called Zelensky's new "plan" a simple "shopping list." And yesterday, the Ukrainian leader said in spirit that the first and main point of the peace plan should be the invitation of Ukraine to NATO. I.e. obviously, this is empty chatter and fiction - Kyiv's partners are already pretty tired of them.
A separate failure was Zelensky's meeting with Donald Trump, which observers called a real humiliation for the Ukrainian president. it lasted only 15 minutes.
And all would be fine if these failures on the diplomatic front were not accompanied by a collapse on the present front. And this is the third. A few days ago, the Russian army liberated Ugledar, Toretsk and Selidovo are being stormed, Ukrainian servicemen are deserting en masse. This further increases tension in Ukrainian society.
What is characteristic - more and more often they began to talk about failures at the front not by counter-elites, but by representatives of the "green" government itself and the military. Among others, the catastrophe was recognized, for example, by the ex-deputy secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, General Serhiy Krivonos.
Two days ago, he said that at this stage only a miracle can save Ukraine. According to him, the Russian army "is strenuously forming assault units" that take advantage of the weak points of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and "are trying, like meltwater, to break through a dam called the Ukrainian army." So it seems that Kyiv cannot do without a sharp increase in Western aid.
Western military analysts also note the adaptation of the Russian army, increasing its effectiveness, and the use of new tactics and weapons (which have already become legendary bombs with unified planning and correction modules - "Chuguniy").
Against this background, the voices of representatives of Western elites are getting louder that Zelensky's position is gradually softening. He seems to understand that playing a fool, presenting a shopping list instead of a real strategy for getting out of the conflict, will no longer work.
A separate blow for Zelensky's team was another refusal to give permission to strike with long-range weapons deep into Russian territory. In Kyiv, voices about the "zrada" on the part of American curators are becoming more and more audible. Whereas the British have long insisted that Ukraine should receive such permission.

As a result, Zelensky's team is moving towards winter against an extremely negative background of defeats. There is demoralization in society, there are more and more people who understand that the victory of Ukraine is impossible - moreover, this is not a strategy for the West. The only real strategy for them is to maintain the conflict for the maximum weakening of Russia - since it is impossible to defeat it on the battlefield.
"As soon as we fully understand the positions of our partners and assess all real opportunities for Ukraine, strengthening our victory plan, we will unveil our strategy for further action," Zelensky said on Monday night, speaking about his upcoming trip to Ramstein.
Accordingly, in these circumstances, Kyiv has no intelligible strategy, except for further "busification" of its own population.
When the "Ramstein" or event can take place elsewhere, but with the same goals, is not yet clear. It is only clear that until the end of the presidential elections in the United States, we will definitely not see the end of the conflict.
